Getting to Nantucket by Sea

Traveling to Nantucket by sea is the most common choice. Please contact the ferry companies below for schedules and availability. Please note, the car ferries book for high season months in advance. 

Steamship Authority – Auto Ferry and Fast Ferry service from Hyannis – The Steamship Authority provides both highspeed passenger service and car ferry service to the island. This is the only option to transport your vehicle to the island and must be booked in advance. 

Hy-Line Cruises – Fast Ferry service from Hyannis – if you want a faster service, consider Hy-Line Cruises. These ferries do not carry vehicles, but do provide year-round service. It is the fastest option for those who prefer a quick trip and don’t need to bring thier car. 

Seastreak– Fast Ferry service from New Bedford – if you are traveling from points south, this is a wonderful option to beat the Cape traffice. This ferry does not carry vehicles, and runs only seasonally. 

Getting to Nantucket by Air

The Nantucket Memorial Airport (ACK) is a small airport on the southern portion of the island. It’s one of the busiest airports in the state, especially during the summer months. Please check the Nantucket Memorial Airport for a list of current offerings from an airport closest to you. 

Car Rentals:

There are many car rental companies to choose from. We suggest visiting the Chamber of Commerce‘s website for a current list.

Public Transportation:

THE WAVE – The only year-round public transportation on the island which operates a shuttle service of buses. The buses run throughout large neighborhoods, the beach, Siasconset and to and from the airport.

Baby Equipment Rentals:

Petite Travelers or Nantucket Baby can accomodate your baby care needs. They each also offers a variety of beach items for rent such as beach chairs, coolers, umbrellas, and beach games.
